'Tis the Season to Serve, Lead & Inspire!
Haleyville City Schools have embraced our motto this year of Serve with Pride, Lead with Pride and Inspire to Impact others. Each of our 3 schools have worked hard this year to increase our opportunities for service. It is important for our schools to give back to the community of Haleyville which supports us in so many ways. Below you will see all the ways that HCS has Served with Pride or is Serving with Pride during this holiday season.
At Haleyville Elementary, students completed a food drive to provide assistance to the Harvest of Hope Food Pantry that feeds hundreds in our community. The Kindness and Compassion Club will be collecting items and putting together gift bags for residents at Haleyville Health Care. The 5th graders at HES will be hosing individuals from the local ARC for a morning of Christmas Carols and fun. HES goes the extra miles to bring smiles to those in need!
At Haleyville Middle School teachers have selected several students who might could use some new clothing, etc... during the holiday season. They also participate in a toy drive for Toys for Kids. HMS is also very involved with Harvest of Hope and students help to support this drive by carrying groceries for those who need a helping hand. HMS is always willing to help in any way they can!
At Haleyville High School students are not only working in the community, but also Mrs. Vice's 9th grade class write notes/words of encouragement to the faculty and staff at HHS. Mrs. Dodd's class collected dog food for the Four Paws Animal Rescue as well as held a talent show at HHS to raise money to purchase the supplies to make blankets for the children who are in Children's Hospital. Mrs. Reeta Hood's class is completing Holiday Cleaning and Trash Pick Up at the Haleyville Center of Technology and surrounding parking lots. HOSA hosted an Auburn vs. Alabama food drive to support the local Backpack Ministry. Mrs. Noble's 9th grade students have supported students at HHS in need of encouragement by writing encouragement cards. Mrs. Brown's 9th grade classes hosted a supply drive for the Children's Home. Currently, Mrs. Middleton and Mrs. Townsend and the Haleyville SGA and sponsoring an Angel tree to assist with the Toys for Kids drive. Haleyville Cheer also is sponsoring 3 point shooting events at each home game to support the Angel Tree. Lots of great sharing going on at HHS!
If you are at the Haleyville Wal-Mart during this holiday season, you will also see bell ringers of all ages from our Haleyville Schools. Many lucky shoppers even saw Leo the Lion ringing the bell last week!
Finally, all HCS employees had the opportunity to bring a Christmas ornament to our Jingle Mingle. The Haleyville Central Office staff bought gift bags, candy and treats and delivered 10 bags to each school. Schools choose students who needed some holiday cheer and brightened their weekend last weekend! We are blessed at HCS and want to be a blessing to others! We understand the importance of giving back! #WeRHaleyville
