A Message from Mrs. Emma Ann Hallman
CNP Director - Haleyville City Schools
Things to
Make You #SMILE
There have been lots of #SMILES on campus lately as students
have found out their new teachers, received their new lockers assignments or
were greeted by the Back to School Party Bus.
#SMILES have also been shown by our teachers as they have put the final
touches on their classrooms or by our hardworking janitorial, maintenance and
grounds staff as they have finished up mowing grass or waxing floors. The Child Nutrition Program also has a lot to
#SMILE about as we kick off our year motto of #SMILE- School
Meals Impact Learning
Environments. There is a lot of research that shows that
school meals help our students to be more focused and engaged in their
classroom and lead to fewer behavior problems or visits to the school
nurse. Over the next few days, there
will be even more to #SMILE about on campus.
The #SMILES that we are most excited to see are those entering our school cafeterias next Thursday!
Here are some reasons for you to #SMILE….

#SMILE Because School Menus Are Now Posted
Visit the district website to browse each school’s menu. We are excited to expand out Grab n’ Go options at all three schools this year. Our elementary students will enjoy our peanut-free PB&J Sandwich Grab n’ Go on Mondays and Wednesdays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays at HES, our Make Your Own Pizza Munchable (just like a Pizza Lunchable- just healthier J) will be available as a Grab n’ Go choice. Our middle and high school students will continue to enjoy our expanded fresh salad options like our Red, White and Blue Salad with fresh strawberries, blueberries and grilled chicken or our Chicken Club Salad with breaded chicken breast and bacon on a bed of romaine vegetables. All students will be excited to see their beloved Crispitos back on the menu after a year hiatus, plus our Tyson Chicken Wings are back. Another change is that our chicken products have all changed to 100% whole muscle chicken. You will also see new menu ideas from our Summer CNP Cooking School held by Chef Scott Lokey, Executive Chef of Alabaster City Schools and the only school chef in the state of Alabama. Chef Lokey spent a day training our workers on how to use fresh herbs and spices to enhance our menu items. Be on the lookout for new dishes like Rosemary and Garlic Potatoes, Roasted Broccoli, Chicken Parmesan and Asian Noodles. You can also keep up with the daily menus on our Twitter page @HaleyvilleCNP.
#SMILE Because We Have Breakfast Covered
Mornings at each household are hectic so let us help power up your child for school with our school breakfast program. Breakfast begins each morning at 7:20 at each school. School breakfast only costs $1.50 or .30¢ and is also fast and convenient. Students at Haleyville High School will get a second opportunity to eat breakfast during break with our Breakfast After the Bell Program where Grab n’ Go breakfast options will be available. Look for new breakfast items like Lucky Charms, Blueberry Poptarts and NutriGrain bars.
#SMILE Because We
Will Be at Each School’s Open House
Our CNP managers are excited to again be participating in
each school’s Open House and Kindergarten Kickoff next week. Please be sure to drop by our table to see
the many different Grab n’ Go choices that can be found in your child’s school. This is also a great time to make your
child’s meal deposit, ask questions about Free and Reduced Lunch applications
or PayPAMS, our online meal deposit system. PayPAMS will also be up and running on Monday, August 7th.
#SMILE Because these lunches are awesome!
