I cannot begin to describe the excitement I feel each year
as August draws near. To say that I am a
school nerd would be a huge understatement.
The newly waxed floors, the hustle and bustle on campus, the department
stores with shelves of school supplies – I love EVERYTHING about the beginning
of school. However, this year I am
simply overjoyed and pumped to be joining the Haleyville High School faculty
and staff. As I have quickly learned,
this is a community that values and supports its schools. Likewise, our educators love and invest in
children without hesitation. I am
blessed to begin this journey with them!
With regards to life at HHS, our new motto is HHSROAR. You will see the hashtag (#HHSROAR) used on
social media sites and elsewhere throughout the year. ROAR simply stands for Raising Our Academic
Readiness.
It’s quite simple.
The purpose of Haleyville High School is to prepare students for
whatever they choose to do after graduation.
We aim to motivate and inspire students to reach their highest
potential, which means focusing on their strengths and deficiencies as
learners. This year each student will be
enrolled in a ROAR class on Wednesday and Thursday. This time will be rooted in three principles:
Data Driven Decisions, Character Education, and Career Exploration. It will be a time for students to learn more
about themselves and opportunities for them after graduation through modules
designed specifically for their grade level.
As we prepare to gather again, I want to challenge all
parents, students, and teachers to Be Our Best, Nothing Less! It is together that we can accomplish
greatness. Strive to do great things for
yourself and for others.
If you do not follow HHS on social media, I would encourage
you to do so! It is a convenient way to
stay up-to-date with happenings around campus.
